Watch out for an additional importation tax upon delivery

Scheduled my international pickup for July 6th. My package arrived in the Philippines on July 17th. My only problem with the service was I got charged an extra $131 from fedex because of importation vat. Wish i knew about this beforehand. Idk if I was charged this tax because I used parcel monkey or because fedex is bs or because the Philippines is bs. It's still very annoying after already paying $90 in the first place for shipping.
