Can I send toys that contain batteries?
It is important to remember when sending toys that batteries are prohibited items with most international carriers- it is advised to remove batteries when shipping overseas where it is possible as more often than not the item containing the batteries will be removed as it is in fact prohibited. Further to this Parcel Monkey have lithium batteries listed as a prohibited item in our terms and conditions- meaning the goods will be carried on a non compensation basis and if you send an item containing lithium batteries and it is lost or damaged we will not be able to assist. Please check the following information on batteries for domestic packages that contain batteries from FedEx who collect and deliver Parcel Monkey Express and Ground services. Our advice is to remove the batteries before sending wherever possible.
How should I package toys before I send them?
When packing items it is best to bubble wrap them to ensure they do not come to any harm when being transported around the US or out of the country. It is also key to make sure the items in your box cannot move around or bang into one another as this is another way they can be broken. Heavy duty boxes are best, with strong corners and well taped up to make sure the goods are transported safely. Please read our packaging guidelines for further information on this. Items that have not been packed correctly may be refused by the courier when they come to collect, as the driver will know that the item will be refused further in the process and send back to sender. We suggest that you place them in sturdy corrugated cardboard boxes and use extra packing such as polystyrene peanuts or layers of bubblewrap. Don't allow any wiggle room, over packaged is better than under.
When sending any parcel via a courier, the first thing to check is if the item you wish to have delivered is listed on the prohibited items manifest or mentioned in our terms and conditions. You may think it unlikely that we'll ever contain toys as something you can't send via a package delivery company. Please do consider, however, that they may be associated items listed such as
canned liquids, chocolate, food and guitars which might have some cross-over. So please do make sure you read through the list thoroughly. You should also make yourself aware of any federal, state or local level restrictions and if any toy is of exceptional value - such as, but not exclusively, collectables and the like.
Is there restrictions on sending toys cheaply overseas?
If you're sending your toys via a courier within the USA then the rules are pretty simple. However, when it comes to international parcel delivery it can get a bit more complex, for instance Spain & France don't like parcels being sent to them when the toys contain copper sulphate. While Australia and Canada also have restrictions that you'll need to check including sending rubber erasers that appear like food. If your sending abroad check the guidelines for each country- which can be found on our country pages on international shipping.
How much would it cost to send toys in the USA?
It depends of course on the size and dimensions of your box and how quickly you want the goods to arrive. Express services will be more expensive to book as opposed to economic services. It only takes a moment to work out the cost of sending your specific item, just enter the weight and dimensions into the quote engine and it will serve you out the best prices available.
