Who has to pay the customs duty and how?

If you choose to ship your packages with Parcel Monkey they will be shipped DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid) which means it is the responsibility of the recipient to pay any customs duty.

When shipping internationally, senders must provide accurate recipient contact details so customs officers can collect payment and release the parcel. Required information includes a local landline number and an accurate email address. Failure to provide this can result in package delays or return to sender.

Customs will contact the recipient and set up the payment with them. Once paid the package can be released and put out for delivery.

Senders should attach customs forms to the outside of packages so customs officers can verify the value of the contents and calculate duty amounts. Additional guidance is available through our customs advice section.
