Can you send chocolate in the mail?

Chocolate is a popular and versatile gift which can be given on any occasion. Luxury truffles make excellent birthday and Christmas presents, while a jar of M&Ms could be a great thank you present for your fifth-grade teacher.  However, chocolate is not a good gift to send in the mail.

The melting point for most types of chocolate is 86 - 90 degrees Fahrenheit (lower than body temperature), this means there is a good chance that if you mail chocolate overseas or even within the US, it will not arrive in the condition you sent it.

How to ship chocolate internationally

It is not a good idea to ship chocolate internationally from the US.  Regardless of where you’re shipping to, there’s a good chance that your chocolate won’t survive the journey without melting.

The best way to mail chocolate internationally is to either pick a company who specializes in shipping chocolate, such as ordering directly with Hershey’s or M&Ms or find a distributor based in the country you wish to ship to.  For example, if you have a friend in the UK who loves American candy, there are now lots of stores in the UK that stock every kind of American chocolate and candy.

A Taste of The States is based in the UK and has an excellent selection of American chocolate, including Hershey’s, M&M’s, Reese’s, Butterfinger and more. You can place your order online and have it delivered directly to the recipient - they even do gift hampers for those special occasions.

Will Parcel Monkey ship chocolate?

Unfortunately, we are not permitted to ship chocolate. Chocolate, along with any other perishable food product, is listed on our restricted and prohibited items list, which means our courier partners have stated it can not be carried under any circumstances.

Before you send any item, we strongly suggest you check the restricted item list first. This will avoid any disappointment if your item is not suitable to travel via a standard courier or post service.
